Pokémon: First Japanese theme song returns!

Pokémon’s First Japanese Theme Song Returns!

When the original Pokémon TV anime debuted in Japan on September 8, 1998, the theme song was “Mezase Pokémon Masutaa” or “Aim to be a Pokémon Master.” Now in 2017, the theme is back!

You can hear it on the new Sun and Moon intro below as the tweet reads: “Mezase Pokémon master 20 th Anniversary –  Rika Matsumoto [Pocket Monster Sun & Moon’ OP2 (‘ 2017) #anipoke”

Rica Matsumoto, who voices Ash in the Japanese series, recorded the original version and is back for this 20th anniversary one. Fans are in for one hell of a series as they approach the release of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon later this year. The Pokemon Company has also been working on a new movie, two new games and has been making progress in the mobile market. They’ve had an amazing time since the release of Pokemon GO, reactivating the Pokemon craze all fans once had as a kid!
