Pokémon GO: Fest event start/end dates, worldwide locations, unlockables and everything we know

Pokemon GO Fest Expands Around the World with Timed Events; Safari Zone Event in Europe

Pokémon GO Fest might be taking place exclusively in Chicago later in July, but players around the world can join forces to unlock some nice rewards, while those inside Chicago’s Grant Park can unlock certain rewards for one day only.

This guide will be focussing exclusively on the upcoming Pokémon GO Fest event, as we’ll be detailing how those attending the event in Chicago’s Grant Park can help others worldwide to unlock rewards and extend the event.

Pokémon GO Fest Challenges Explained

It was previously revealed that Pokémon GO Fest would be taking place in Chicago’s Grant Park on July 22, but we now know that those attending the event will be tasked with catching specific Pokémon in order to unlock certain rewards, as you can see in the table below.

The rewards, along with the corresponding type of Pokémon, are listed below:

  • Fire: Candy Bonus
  • Water: XP Bonus
  • Grass: Stardust Bonus
  • Electric: Egg Distance Bonus
  • Rock: Buddy Distance Bonus
  • Normal: Encounter Rate Bonus

The exact amount of Pokémon needed to be captured in order to unlock the reward is currently unknown, but what we do know is that players will only have three Challenge Windows in which to unlock the rewards, which are listed below:

  • 11 AM – 11:30 AM
  • 12 PM – 12:30 PM
  • 3 PM – 3:30 PM

But there’s a twist to this, as players worldwide that aren’t in Grant Park can work together to unlock different reward levels, extending the event time by 24 hours if Bronze Tier is unlocked, 48 hours if Silver Tier is unlocked, or unlocking the Mystery Challenge with Gold Tier.

If this last Gold Tier is unlocked worldwide, then a Mystery Challenge inside Grant Park will be unlocked. What this Mystery Challenge entails exactly is unknown, and this is all the information Niantic has released as of right now. But, if this Mystery Challenge inside Grant Park is completed, then a Global Reward will be unlocked for everyone worldwide, and we’ll keep an ear out to find out what exactly this could be.

Pokémon GO Safari Zones

Outside of this, Pokémon GO Safari Zone Events are coming to Europe, and will all be taking place at Unibail-Rodamco shopping centers in the corresponding cities.
