Niantic is hard-pressed in making Pokémon GO a whole lot better than what it was at launch.
There are a lot of upcoming features and tweaks being readied for the game, but no specific launch date has been set for these yet. One of the most anticipated features is the Pokémon GO Gym rework and it’s possible that we’re getting the change pretty soon.
It was recently leaked that the Pokémon GO Ice and Fire event will launch a few days from now. Players are speculating that the Pokémon GO Gym rework is set to come either during or after the event, but players are expecting the latter. Regardless of when the release date of the update is, players should begin preparing as early as now as Niantic might release the update by surprise.
Niantic CEO John Hanke said before that the Pokémon GO Gym rework is coming sometime during Spring. Coincidentally, the leaked details for the next Pokémon GO event reveal that the Ice and Fire type event will end on June 20, just a day before Spring ends.
The Gym rework is planned for Spring 2017 and after the leaked details of the next event, players speculated that the update might not come in Spring anymore. There’s still a chance though that Niantic will drop the update exactly on the last day of Spring.
We’ve yet to know what Niantic is planning on doing with the Gym rework but many are expecting Gym battles to be more fast paced and action oriented. Moreover, the Gym rework could also be the way for Niantic to introduce the anticipated PVP feature coming to the game.
The next event for Pokemon GO is set to commemorate Ice and Fire-type Pokémon. It begins at 1:00 P.M. PDT on June 13 to 1:00 P.M. PDT on June 20, 2017.
