This Summer, Niantic is planning to host a huge Pokémon GO event. This information was provided by Niantic’s Asian General Manager Yoshiji Kawashima and Asian General Marketing Manager Kenji Suka while speaking to the publication K-Tai Watch.
According to the executive, we’ll see a huge event this summer, and the company is also developing new in-game mechanics before the date arrives.
The executives failed to provide a specific date for the event. However, there have been speculations that the update will include legendary Pokémon which will require player collaboration to capture.
“I hope you are looking forward to this huge event this summer. Please look forward to it. Engineers are working hard now so that new functions can be implemented,” Kawashima said.
There have been several speculations as to what the engineers are working on. Reportedly, a PVP (Player vs. Player) mode, co-op raids, and trading methods are being developed for launch. But Gamerant has noted that it’s unlikely that these features will all be rolled out at once. Instead, we’ll see the release for co-operative Pokémon capture this summer, and the rest will follow in a timely fashion.
Niantic regularly hosts an in-game event to keep the buzz alive. We just got done with the Eggstravaganza Easter event which was preceded by the Water festival. Before the launch of this huge event, we’re likely to see small events of similar scale as well.
