Niantic’s two augmented reality games are benefiting from each other and things are looking very great for both titles.
There’s a lot in store for Ingress and Pokémon GO players as it seems like there’s more chances to get items in both games. Under our noses, Niantic has slowly rolled out more PokéStops throughout the course of several Pokemon GO updates.
Niantic recently posted an announcement for Ingress regarding how many new portals were added to the game. “Thank you, Agents, for helping us evaluate portals by using Operation Portal Recon. The portal network has grown tremendously in the last week. Since we opened Operation Portal Recon up globally to level 16 Agent, players have analyzed 450k unique portals, rejected 116k, and were responsible for 64k new portals being created”, says Niantic.
This spells good news for Pokémon fans as well as this means that the PokéStops in the game have increased tremendously through a Pokémon GO update as well. Since there are 64k new portals in Ingress, the PokéStops in Pokémon GO could reach up to 50k and even more. It’s worth noting though that probably not all new Portals in Ingress have turned into PokéStops. Some have probably turned into Gyms or other important landmarks in Pokémon GO.
The portals in Ingress serve as a basis for PokéStops and Gyms in Pokémon GO. It’s good thing that a lot of portals have been added as players of Pokémon GO will benefit greatly from it as well. Players can expect to get more items and get into more activities in Pokémon GO after the recent Portal surge in Ingress.
